But, I don't think God put me here on earth only for myself.
There are two things in life I feel are the most important:
- To come to the saving knowledge of Jesus, to accept His gracious gift of eternal life
- To share with others this same knowledge, & encourage them to accept it
Whether you call it scary, or a horrifying thought ...the idea of Hell cannot be dismissed just because we don't understand it, nor can it be what we may like it to be. It is what it is ...and perhaps it would serve us best to try to understand it, instead of trying to reason it away because we feel we are a compassionate people who feel we can only accept God to be within our reason.
It is difficult to think we can be equally compassionate to everyone. Even if we take the simple concept of the public school system ...we have to admit that bullies do exist. We can all say we can bring ourselves to forgive them, and even perhaps understand them ...but if they don't cease the bullying, our compassion and understanding may not help the victims of their bullying while we wait for any possible change of heart on the bully's part. And what about our compassion towards those who may suffer greatly at the hands of the bully??
When my dad was younger, a vicious wild dog was chasing a mother deer, which most of us know is called a doe. The dog was not far behind the deer who was on her last legs, panting frantically. My dad shot the vicious dog. He would not have done it if he had just come across the dog, but a choice had to be made ...it was the life of the wild dog, or the mother deer.
We don't live in the wild West ...and people should not be using guns to deal with their problems. And the government should not be making people feel they have to either. We should not have incidents like Ruby Ridge, Waco, or what nearly developed in Nevada on the Bundy ranch.
